Nonprofit and public-agency marketing

Nonprofit Marketing in the Coachella Valley, With Numbers Your Board Can Read

Websites, search, Google Ad Grants, and reporting for nonprofits and public agencies in the Coachella Valley. One accountable person, not an agency, and a monthly report that answers the question your board actually asks: what did this do for us?

The Problem Is Rarely the Website

Most nonprofit sites I’m asked to look at were built with care and then left alone. Programs got added. Staff changed. The donate button is on page three. The event page from two years ago still ranks. Nobody can say how many people found the volunteer form from Google last month, because nothing was set up to count it.

None of that is a design problem. It’s a structure and measurement problem, and it’s fixable without starting over.

Recent Nonprofit and Public-Agency Work

Riverside Legal Aid

Rebuilt the website, then kept going: search improvements, a newsletter, content for the site and social channels, a social presence built from scratch, and online fundraising options that didn’t exist before.

Habitat for Humanity of the Coachella Valley

Rebuilt the website with Leap Marketing, consolidating a growing list of programs into a structure a first-time visitor can follow, with clear paths for donors, volunteers, and homeowner applicants.

Coalition to End Human Trafficking

Rebuilt the website and helped the organization establish its social channels so the outreach message reaches Eastern Riverside County.

CV Water Counts

Website, search, and social for the valley’s joint water-conservation campaign, on behalf of Hunter | Johnsen and the six member agencies.

NPO Centric

Website design and search help for the organization that supports the valley’s other nonprofits.

Fresh Eddie Futures

Website build for a new nonprofit that needed to explain its mission clearly and start taking donations.
Some of this work is done with the team at Hunter | Johnsen or in collaboration with Leap Marketing. I also work directly with public agencies, including water districts here in the valley and in other states. The rules are different (procurement, accessibility, public records) and I’m used to them.

What I Help With

Websites That Explain the Mission and Make the Next Step Obvious

WordPress sites built around the three things a nonprofit site has to do: explain what you do, make it easy to give or sign up, and be maintainable by whoever is on staff next year. Full sites from $4,500, one-page campaign or event sites from $975. Nonprofits get 15% off Website Essentials.

Search, So the People Looking for You Find You

Local SEO for the terms your programs are actually searched for, Google Business Profile, and fixes to the technical things that quietly hold pages back. Monthly support from $950.

Google Ad Grants, Set Up and Actually Managed

Most eligible nonprofits either haven’t applied for the $10,000 per month in free Google search ads or have an account that stopped spending months ago. I set it up, keep it compliant, and point it at the pages that matter.

Paid Campaigns for Events, Giving Days, and Enrollment

Google and Meta campaigns with a specific job: sell out the gala, fill the program, hit the giving-day number. Managed with honest expectations and reporting you can forward to the board without translating it.

Measurement and Reporting

GA4, Google Tag Manager, and Search Console set up properly, conversion tracking for donations, forms, and sign-ups, and a monthly report in plain language. If your board wants a Looker Studio dashboard they can open themselves, that’s included.

Strategy for the Communications Person Who Is Also Three Other People

A monthly working session and written priorities, so the person doing the work has someone senior to check with. From $1,500 per month, or $175 per hour when you just need a question answered. More about marketing consulting »

How Nonprofits Usually Start

The $295 Business Checkup is $251 for nonprofits. I review the website, search presence, tracking, Google Ad Grants status, and any campaigns you’re running, and give you a written list of what’s worth fixing first, in order. If the answer is “your site is fine, fix the tracking and apply for the grant,” that’s what I’ll say.

Questions From Nonprofits

We have a volunteer who does our website. Can you work with them?

Yes. I will set up the structure and tracking, document how things work, and hand back a site they can keep running. Training is part of every website project.

Do we need a new website?

Often not. The Checkup exists to answer that honestly before anyone spends money.

Can you help with a grant application or a board presentation?

I can give you the numbers and the plain-language version of what they mean. I do not write grants.

Do you manage our social media?

No. I will tell you whether it is worth staff time for your organization and refer you to someone good if it is.

Are you familiar with public-agency requirements?

Yes: accessibility, public records, procurement thresholds, and the approval chains that come with them. I work with water districts and agencies in California and other states.
