Tanglefoot TX: Launching a New Festival Website Deep in the Heart of Texas

May 7th, 2025

There’s something special about getting to work on a project from the ground up—especially when that project is a brand-new festival set to bring BBQ, music, and thousands of people to Temple, Texas.

I recently had the opportunity to collaborate with the team at Soundskilz, the City of Temple, and the always-stylish crew at Fried Design Company to bring the Tanglefoot Festival website to life: tanglefoottx.com.

This is the first-ever installment of what we all hope will become a beloved annual tradition in Central Texas, and the site had to reflect that kind of big-energy debut.

A Site Built for Fans, Foodies & Festivalgoers

From the start, the goal was simple: build a fast, engaging, mobile-friendly website that gives users all the info they need in just a few scrolls.

We focused on:

  • A bold and clean layout (that still shows some personality)
  • Mobile optimization for easy access on-the-go
  • A layout that allows the event to grow year after year

This isn’t just a one-and-done kind of site—it’s a platform designed to scale with the festival as it evolves, expands, and becomes a fixture in the Texas festival scene.

Teamwork Makes the Texas Dream Work

This was a true team collaboration, with:

  • Soundskilz leading the charge on event production and promotional planning
  • Fried Design Company delivering custom branding elements that gave the site its unmistakable vibe
  • And myself, handling site development, WordPress buildout, UX, optimization, and launch logistics to bring it all together

Everyone involved had the same goal: deliver something awesome that feels both local and legit.

What the Site Includes

The current version of the site includes everything an attendee would want:
✔️ Artist and performer highlights
✔️ Info on the BBQ competition
✔️ Festival basics like tickets, schedule, and FAQs
✔️ Sponsorship and vendor info
✔️ Easy-to-update sections for future announcements and contests

And of course, the entire site is optimized for performance and search—because if you’re throwing a giant party, people need to be able to find it.

Just the Beginning

With Tanglefoot’s first event set to debut this September in Temple, we’re just getting started. As the event grows and evolves, the website will be right there growing alongside it—with new content, new features, and a digital experience that matches the energy of the live one.

I’m proud to have played a part in launching something that already feels like a future classic.

And if you’re anywhere near Central Texas in September, maybe I’ll see you there (probably near the BBQ pits).
