Riverside Legal Aid Launches New Website to Better Serve the Community

Access to clear, reliable legal information can make all the difference for someone facing a difficult situation. For decades, Riverside Legal Aid has been providing free legal services to low-income residents of Riverside County — but their website needed an update to match the quality of their work.

In July, I launched a brand new site designed to make it easier for people to find help, learn about services, and get involved. You can see it here: riversidelegalaid.org

About Riverside Legal Aid

Riverside Legal Aid is a nonprofit organization dedicated to offering free legal assistance in civil matters to qualifying residents. Their team of volunteer attorneys and staff provide guidance on issues ranging from housing to family law to bankruptcy, helping people navigate the legal system when they need it most.

What the New Site Needed to Do

Their old site contained important information, but it wasn’t as easy to navigate — especially on mobile devices, which many clients rely on. Our main goals were to:

  • Create a clear, mobile-friendly design
  • Make services and eligibility information easy to find
  • Streamline the application process for legal assistance
  • Highlight opportunities to volunteer or donate
  • Ensure accessibility and clarity for a broad audience
  • Make future updates about workshops and events simple, so attendees can easily register and find details

Design & Development Process

I built the new Riverside Legal Aid site on WordPress, with a focus on clean navigation and clear pathways for each audience — whether they’re seeking legal help, looking to volunteer, or wanting to make a donation.

Some highlights include:

  • Organized service pages with plain-language descriptions
  • Simple contact and intake forms that work well on mobile
  • Volunteer and donor information front and center
  • Updated design using their official colors and logo to maintain brand consistency
  • Accessibility considerations so everyone can use the site effectively
  • Workshop & events features so new opportunities can be shared and found quickly

One page that came out especially well is the Unsafe Housing & Tenant Rights section. This resource is designed to help tenants understand their options when living conditions are unsafe and give them a direct path to get assistance.

Collaboration

I worked closely with the Riverside Legal Aid team throughout the process, keeping communication clear and updates regular. Their feedback helped ensure the new site truly serves their clients and supporters.

Beyond the Website

Part of the project also included helping Riverside Legal Aid launch and connect with the community on social media. We assisted them in creating and setting up new accounts on Facebook and Instagram — both at @riversidelegalaid — giving them new ways to share updates, promote workshops, and highlight community impact.

Since the Launch

The new site has been live since July and is already making it easier for people to connect with Riverside Legal Aid. Mobile visitors can now find the information they need quickly, workshops are easier to access, and the updated design better reflects the professionalism and dedication of the organization.

Final Thoughts

Projects like this are exactly why I enjoy working with nonprofits. A well-designed website isn’t just a nice-to-have — it’s a tool that can make critical services more accessible to the people who need them.

If your organization could benefit from a website that’s both functional and easy to manage, I’d be happy to help.
