Case Study Snapshot

  • Client: Riverside Legal Aid
  • Organization: Nonprofit legal-services provider
  • Primary need: A clearer, more welcoming website for people seeking help
  • Work delivered: Website strategy, design, development, content organization, and launch support
  • Outcome: A modern, easier-to-use site that better reflects the organization’s mission and guides visitors toward the right next step

The Challenge: Make Important Information Easier to Find

Riverside Legal Aid has provided free legal services to low-income residents of Riverside County for decades. Its previous website needed an update that matched the quality and importance of that work.

The challenge was not simply to make the site look newer. The site needed to serve several audiences—people looking for legal help, community members learning about services, and supporters interested in getting involved—without making an already difficult situation feel more complicated.

The Approach: Lead With Clarity and Empathy

I approached the project from the visitor’s point of view. Someone arriving at a legal-aid website may be under pressure, unfamiliar with legal terminology, or unsure where to begin. That makes clear language, straightforward navigation, and an approachable visual experience essential.

The site structure and page content were organized to help visitors answer three practical questions:

  • Can Riverside Legal Aid help with my situation?
  • How do I learn more or request assistance?
  • How can I support or connect with the organization?

The Solution: A Modern Website Built Around Real Visitor Needs

The new website gives Riverside Legal Aid a professional, credible platform while keeping the experience human, clear, and approachable. Services are easier to understand, key information is easier to locate, and calls to action help visitors move forward with greater confidence.

The finished site also gives the organization a stronger foundation for sharing updates, explaining its work, and connecting with the Riverside County community over time.

What Changed

  • A prominent path helps visitors move toward legal assistance quickly.
  • Services, events, donations, and contact information have distinct, easy-to-scan routes.
  • The site now supports ongoing news and educational resources, not just static organizational information.
  • The visual and content approach keeps the experience clear and approachable for people arriving under pressure.

The Outcome: A Better Digital Front Door

The result is a website that better represents Riverside Legal Aid’s mission and makes the organization more approachable online. It is clearer for people seeking help, more useful for the broader community, and easier for the organization to build on as its needs evolve.

This project is a good example of how thoughtful website strategy can support a mission-driven organization: simplify the experience, respect the visitor’s circumstances, and make the next step obvious.

What This Shows About My Approach

I do not treat nonprofit websites as online brochures. I focus on how people actually use them—what they need to know, what may be creating confusion, and what action the organization hopes they will take. The goal is a site that feels trustworthy, works clearly, and supports the mission behind it.
